The quick bits

Matty was born and raised in Australia, but found his way to Seattle in 2007 with his American wife. Now the house is full with kids, dogs and a couple of lizards. If Matty's not chasing (or being chased by) his two munchkins, he's drawing, and if he's not drawing then he can be found making something creative, and if he's not creating something then he is playing pickleball or watching skateboarding, and if that's not the case then he is probably snuggling with his lovely wife on the couch watching TV.

Legend has it, on a crisp winter's day in 1981 on the Eastern coast of Australia, a freshly born Matty Mitchell reached out and grabbed for the delivery doctor's pen. Ever since that first breath, he has been infatuated with drawing and all things creative. All of the stories of Matty’s life have led him to his current path of pursuing a life full of art. Contrary to current beliefs, Matty was once a morning person and would wake up at the crack of dawn to watch cartoons. Matty was so enamored with how stories could be told with pictures. He can still be found reading some classic Calvin and Hobbes to get his imagination stirring.

Matty's well-mannered mischievous side were fueled by the adventures he had while head-deep in the Australian bush. He and his friends would be out enjoying the country’s nature at its finest for hours on end. Most of these stories end with someone carrying a lizard or a snake home. The adventures he got up to continue to be inspiration for his various mediums of story-telling. 

As Matty matured, he started to venture outside the bush for his crazy adventures. His days soon became filled with surfing and skateboarding with his mates (there was a rollerblading phase, but we all agree that should not be talked about). Being exposed to the counter-culture of surfing and skating really expanded Matty's perspective. He realized that his unique view and visual interpretation was something that could be an important part of his life. 

Then the girl entered the scene. A young American woman stole his heart and after some time of long distance love (before Skype there were actually calling cards) the two were wed. In 2007 Matty, his wife and 2 dogs (they still have the accent in their barks and freeze all winter long) headed to Seattle in the Northern Hemisphere. Once in Seattle, Matty decided to pursue a career in web design. He landed a pretty fun job at Nintendo, which requires a good amount of game testing between meetings and designing.

The two biggest adventures of Matty’s life are having 2 beautiful children (one adopted and one biological). These beautiful kids are a constant reminder to follow the heart’s desires and have fun. Matty attempts to do both of those things as he pursues a life as a creative and shares his art with the world.
